Southern Community Media Association

‘X’ Awards

The 2010 ‘X’ Awards entries are now closed. We look forward to your entry for 2011.

One of the Highlights of the Southern Community Media Associations 2010 National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference will be the X Award Presentations as part of the conference dinner.

The X Awards were developed by Southern Community Media Association to recognise excellence in Community Broadcasting.

The X Awards are not restricted to members of Southern Community Media Association and are open to any Community Broadcasters who sends a delegate to the 2010 National Conference.

Another feature of the X Awards is that there is not now or ever has been a charge to enter the awards. The Southern Community Media Association believes that the X Awards are there to recognise the work and effort that goes into the various categories of the awards and that stations should not be restricted by cost as to what Catagories they enter into the awards.

The X Awards have always been and will always be judged independently of the Southern Community Media Association with past Judges such as Artie Stevens (Air News), Andy Ingram (Fatman Productions), Barry Melville (CBAA) and Steve Ahern (AFTRS) all contributing to the X awards and adding to the prestige of taking home an X Award.

All finalists in the awards receive a certificate recognising that they were a finalist in the X awards.

The X Awards have become an integral part of the Conference dinner along with several other awards presented on the night. The awards section of the dinner provides a few laughs and entertainment as well as recognising the expertise, dedication and capabilities of people involved in grass roots community broadcasting.

Who is eligible to enter the X Awards…….?

If your station is a financial Member of the Southern Community Media Association regardless of if you are attending the 2010 national conference or not you may enter the X Awards.

If you are a community broadcaster either fully licensed or on a TCBL and not a member of the SCMA but you are sending a delegate to the 2010 National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference you are eligible to enter the X Awards.

All the other entry conditions, entry categories and entry information can be found in the X Award entry section of this website.

Don’t hesitate print out an entry form and get the presenters and production people at your station excited and involved in the 2010 X Awards.

I have said it before and I will say it again it is surprising how many stations have won or been a finalist in the X Awards who were not even going to enter the awards.

The X Awards are just one part of the 2010 National Regional Rural and Sub Metro Broadcasters Conference but they are a great opportunity to get your station personnel involved in the awards and also inspire them to produce that something special that may gain them a prestigious X Award.
